Delete Your Account
Vyne's optional Cloud Backup keeps a copy of your data (through Google Firebase) so you can restore it on another phone. If you'd like to delete your account and that cloud data, here's how.
Contents 5
Option 1: Delete it yourself, in the app
- Open Vyne and go to the More tab (bottom right).
- Scroll down to the Cloud Backup section.
- Tap "Delete My Account & Cloud Data" and confirm.
The button appears there once you are signed in to Cloud Backup. Deletion is immediate and permanent; there is no waiting period.
Option 2: Ask by email
If you can't use the app (you lost your phone, uninstalled it, and so on), email me at vyneapp.help@gmail.com from the address on your account and ask me to delete it. I take the same steps as the app, including for shared profiles, and write back once it's done, usually within a few days and always within 30 days.
What gets deleted
Your account (email and password sign-in) and everything in Cloud Backup (branches, habits, due dates, amounts, notes, lists, reminders, calendar items, time clock entries and hourly rates, the money you logged and planned in Budget and No-spend days (spending, income, savings, subscriptions, goals and debts), your flashcard decks and study history, your journal and weekly diary, the people you added, the encrypted copy of your cycle data, and your encryption keys) are permanently deleted from the servers, including backups in older formats. Vyne also offers to delete the cycle data on your phone. Google removes deleted data from its own internal backups on its own schedule. You are also taken out of every shared profile, and a shared profile that only you were in is deleted with all its content. This can't be undone.
If you share a profile
Deleting your account takes you out of every shared profile first, and removes them from your phone. The other member keeps the shared profile, including what you added to it. Your name is removed, your account ID is replaced by a random ID, and they see "Former member" instead (a phone of theirs that is offline does this when it next connects). Text typed into the profile is not changed. If you want something you added gone, delete it from the shared profile first; it stays in Recently removed for 30 days, where the other member can still restore it. If Vyne cannot finish leaving a shared profile, your backup and account are not deleted and you can try again; shared profiles you have already left stay left.
What's kept
No copy of your own backup is kept after deletion. What stays on the servers is what you added to a shared profile that another member still uses, without your name or account ID. Data on your phone isn't touched by deleting your cloud account, except the cycle data Vyne offers to delete: it stays there until you delete it in the app or uninstall Vyne. Crash reports in Sentry aren't linked to your account and are deleted automatically after a limited time.
