Terms of Service

Vyne helps you organize your life as a vine of branches, with habits, due dates, notes, lists, reminders, a journal and a page for the people you care about. Everything is stored on your device. Optional Cloud Backup keeps a copy on servers I run through Google Firebase, so you can restore it on another phone. You can also export a backup file at any time and import it later; that file stays with you.

Vyne is free to download and use, and it has no ads.

Cloud Backup is optional and needs an email address and password. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, share a profile or turn on cycle tracking. If you are under 16, or under the age of digital consent where you live, ask a parent or guardian before you do. Keep your password safe; if you think someone else has used your account, contact me right away.

Everything you create in Vyne belongs to you. I don't sell it, and I don't look at it or use it for anything other than storing it and giving it back to you through Cloud Backup, unless you ask me for help with your own data or the law requires it. Cloud Backup has an optional end-to-end encryption setting that encrypts your whole backup on your phone before it leaves; without it, your backup is encrypted in transit and at rest but is not end-to-end encrypted. The Privacy Policy explains both. If you share a profile, I also show it to its other member, as the Privacy Policy explains. You can delete your account and cloud data at any time from within the App.

Vyne's habits, streaks, statistics, suggestions and the wheel are tools for organizing your own life. They are not medical, psychological, financial or other professional advice, and amounts you track are only the records you type in.

Cycle tracking is a log of your own observations. It is not medical advice, it makes no predictions, and it is not birth control.

Reminders depend on your phone's notification settings, battery settings and operating system, and they may occasionally not arrive. Don't rely on Vyne alone for anything critical, such as medication or legal deadlines.

Use Vyne for its intended purpose: organizing your own life. Don't try to break, reverse-engineer or abuse the App or the backup service, and don't use it for anything illegal.

When you share a profile, you decide what goes into it. Only put in what you have the right to share, and don't use a shared profile to watch, pressure or harass anyone. The other member can see, change, delete and keep copies of everything in it; I can't undo what they do with a copy outside Vyne. You can leave a shared profile at any time.

If you got Vyne from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if you got it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or its support; I am.

Vyne is provided "as is." I work to keep it reliable, but I can't guarantee it will always be available or error-free, or that your data will never be lost, particularly if you don't use Cloud Backup. Keep anything important backed up, with Cloud Backup or an exported backup file. If you turn on end-to-end encryption and lose both your recovery code and all your signed-in devices, I cannot recover your cloud data; nobody can.

To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Vyne changes over time: features can be added, changed or removed. When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. If a change is significant, I will tell you in the app before it takes effect; if you keep using the App after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using the App and delete your account.

You can stop using Vyne at any time by uninstalling it, and delete your cloud account from within the App or by emailing me. If I ever need to discontinue the App or Cloud Backup, I'll give reasonable notice so you can export your data first.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live somewhere whose consumer protection laws give you more rights, those rights still apply to you, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
